One of four prints illustrating four HC category climbs from Le Tour de France 2017.
The diagonal illustrates the 6.9% gradient of the climb from it’s starting point above sea level to the summit. Bare rock and bad weather – Col du Galibier, one of the most notorious ascents of the Tour de France.
Hors Catégorie (HC) is a term used in stage bicycle races to designate a climb that is “beyond categorisation”. The term was originally used for those mountain roads where cars were not expected to be able to pass.
